The Diversitá Opera Arts Company New Artist Development Program is designed for youth and adult vocal artists of all ages who want to develop their skills, gain performance experience, and prepare for professional opportunities.
Accepted artists become part of the 2027 New Artist Development Artist Roster and may be considered for:
Understudy/Cover opportunities in the new opera
Understudy/Cover opportunities in other company productions
2027 concert performances
Recitals, showcases, and other company performances
Artist development and professional preparation
Performance opportunities are not guaranteed. Booking is based on artistic fit, production needs, scheduling, and artist availability.
Applicants must submit:
Completed application
Current headshot
Artist résumé/CV
Short artist biography
Two video performance submissions
Voice type and repertoire information
2027 availability
One short reference letter from a music professional
Reference letters may come from a vocal teacher, music teacher, choir director, conductor, music professor, private instructor, professional musician, or other qualified music professional.
A $25 non-refundable application fee is required when submitting your application.
The $500 non-refundable program fee covers participation in the 2027 New Artist Development Program, including:
Artist development and training
Professional preparation
Coaching and development activities provided by the company
Participation in the New Artist Development Artist Roster
Consideration for available company performance opportunities
Consideration for understudy/cover opportunities in the new opera and other productions
Consideration for 2027 concerts, showcases, recitals, and other company performance opportunities
The $500 program fee does not guarantee casting, a specific role, an understudy/cover assignment, concert performance, or paid engagement.
All performance opportunities are based on artistic fit, company needs, scheduling, and artist availability.
All application and program fees are non-refundable, including if an artist withdraws, becomes unavailable, or is removed from the program.
Limited scholarships are available for accepted artists who demonstrate financial need.
Scholarships are subject to available funding and are not guaranteed. Scholarship assistance may provide partial assistance toward the $500 program fee.
Artists accepted into the program are expected to:
Attend required rehearsals and activities
Arrive prepared and on time
Learn and prepare music
Accept reasonable artistic direction
Communicate professionally
Treat directors, staff, instructors, and fellow artists with respect
An artist may be removed from the program for disrespectful or inappropriate behavior, repeated failure to follow company expectations, failure to attend required activities, or failure to learn and prepare assigned music.
Removal from the program does not qualify for a refund.
The New Artist Development Program is open to youth and adult artists of all ages.
